It's been more than a year since I wrote an entry here. It's almost embarrassing to see where I was at the end of 2020 and I regret not recording any of the amazing memories of last year. I suppose it's good that I have my Twitter for that...I don't even know where to start now. I still find it incredible just how far my life has come now and how far I have come. I'm engaged. I wonder how she'd react, if she knew. It's no longer important to me what she thinks of me but I can't help wanting to know, wanting to show her how happy I am despite all that happened.Maybe I'll come back here and recount some memories from last year in hindsight. What a coincidence that I decided yesterday that I would start going back through last year and now, today, I'm feeling incredibly nostalgic. The cold weather probably helps and the fact that I'm looking for ways to procrastinate my homework... I miss him even though he's just at work. It's a perfect day to cuddle on the sofa. Let's see...It was late January last year that I guess it all started. We met before that, back in November 2020 but it was a short meeting. I wasn't ready back then to accept any sort of flirtations. Even the usual from customers was too much for me to stomach for a bit. Anyway, late January, we reconnected. I invited him to come to the bar for Swing Night.I had no idea what would come of it. Chang Lin has always been flirtatious so I expected that but it was so much more than that, at least in my heart. Outwardly, God, I don't know what we must have looked like, haha. No one had ever given me that much attention before then. With her it was always so much more subtle; with customers, they rarely dared touch me beyond a few brushes of fingers. We were practically lovers back then with the way we behaved. I was sure I was going to burst into flames at any minute, each one more intense than the last with him. I don't think I've ever been that shameless with anyone, inside or outside of the bar. And yet, all we did was talk and tease each other, flirt and dance, and when it was time to close, we went out and had street noodles and cheap convenience store beer. We swapped coats (his, a stylish leather jacket; mine, a woolen double breasted coat) just so I wouldn't feel so strange walking a night market in slacks and a waistcoat. How could I possibly not fall for him? Haha.I knew he was going through a lot back then and I really did try my hardest not to feel anything, just to be friends, have a little fun with innocent flirting. When we were waiting for our noodles, we stood so close together just off to the side. My memory might be inaccurate, I can't say, but I remember we were talking about it - or rather, we were quite romantically alluding to such a conversation - and he said, "I want you to touch me." I just about lost my mind in that moment but I think I must've kept it cool enough while my heart wanted to jump right out of my mouth... He can say that same thing to me now and I think I would feel the exact same. I love him so much. But we did touch then, still very innocent. I think we just held each other's forearms. He might've played with my coat - his coat, on me. I'll never forget that feeling. Then we sat and ate. We talked and he asked me about myself. I didn't realise how badly off I was until then. I could barely do it, much more used to drawing stories from others than divulging my own thoughts and opinions. He was a spotlight shining on me, so warm and a little intimidating. I'm so thankful to him. I gave him all the extra meat I had.
